    Sigur Ros - Live!

I will make a prediction tonight - I will not go to a better gig this year. I dont know how anyone could possibly hope to top Sigur Ros. Now some people argue who are the best post rock band in the world - Godspeed, EITS, Mono. Now I have seen none of those bands live, but I have seen Sigur Ros. And they were so stunningly amazing it was almost painful. Please, I beg everyone download or buy a Sigur Ros album - if you have any sort of musical taste then you will not regret it.

Oh, and we turn to the OC - why does Ryan have to keep punching people. Just talk, dont punch.

Usual uni routine was back today - lecture > union > drink und play pool und look at the eye candy. oh yes.

Cesare Beccaria on the death penalty

Now there is no man who upon the least reflection, would put in competition the total and perpetual loss of his liberty, with the greatest advantages he could possibly obtain in consequence of a crime. Perpetual slavery, then, has in it all that is necessary to deter the most hardened and determined, as much as the punishment of death. I say it has more. There are many who can look upon death with intrepidity and firmness, some through fanaticism, and others through vanity, which attends us even to the grave; others from a desperate resolution, either to get rid of their misery, or cease to live: but fanaticism and vanity forsake the criminal in slavery, in chains and fetters, in an iron cage, and despair seems rather the beginning than the end of their misery. The mind, by collecting itself and uniting all its force, can, for a moment, repel assailing grief; but its most vigorous efforts are insufficient to resist perpetual wretchedness.... The punishment of death is pernicious to society, from the example of barbarity it affords. If the passions, or the necessity of war, have taught men to shed the blood of their fellow creatures, the laws, which are intended to moderate the ferocity of mankind, should not increase it by examples of barbarity, the more horrible as this punishment is usually attended with formal pageantry. Is it not absurd, that the laws, which detest and punish homicide, should, in order to prevent murder, publicly commit murder themselves? What are the true and most useful laws?

    I couldnt agree more.

Hmmm The OC was cool last night, have we seen the last of Trey? And Julie Cooper is still a scumbag.  SLAAAAG.

Neighbours is very strange at the moment, for some reason they were throwing flour at each other in school, and Harold Bishop was there. Weird.

And Arsenal were awful last night, thats the worst performance I can remember from an Arsenal team.  The players just didn't care.

    Bye.

BUT the police saw them, gave chase....the robbers killed a woman during the car chase, and the police caught them. still havent got my cd back yet though.

    December 24

    Christmas is rubbish. FACT.

    Why I hear you ask?

    The answer....no Neighbours....

    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

    Its just not good enough.

I spilt 36 pints of milk at work yesterday, it was like a tidal wave of milk all the way down the yard.  That was fun.

    Merry Christmas.
    December 20

    Hello everyone

Neighbours was boring today - what was with that Mr Erinsborough thing...load of claptrap.

Les put laxatives in my drink last night, I have been on the bog four times today. Oh dear.  Miss Giam looked thin last night - she has lost loads of weight.  Gossip aside life has been uneventful.  Working in Tesco most of the time nowadays... at least they have stopped playing christmas songs.

Well it is Christmas soon, I have done all my shopping so I am laughing at everyone who hasnt. HAHAHAHAHA.

    bye.
    December 09

    Shoot me now...

I don't know who the idiot is who had the bright idea of playing Christmas carols in Tesco on a loop, but when I find out I am going to strangle them with tinsel....ARRRGH.  Mindnumbing Christmas carols played over and over and over again are bad for your health - FACT.  I have heard people telling me to Feed the World about three times tonight.  The worst thing is, they are getting into my head.  Not good.  And anyway, what kind of awful song is that? Of course they don't know it is Christmas time, Africans are more interested in finding some food, not sending Christmas cards to each other, or putting up the decorations.  I am sure they are really gutted they can't all get cosy round the log fire, and sing some carols.   The song is just another way of a. enabling popstars to get some publicity; b. make them look like they are doing good; c. make some money from other record sales.  If they care that much about it, why dont they sell their yachts, jets and mansions and go and live in a mud hut in Ghana?

On to other news, and there seems to be a new bird in Neighbours - Elle

or something.  Well, she is verrry fit so I hope she is here to stay.  I don't think much else happened today, it has to be said I was more bothered about the fact that 442's obsession with La Liga (and Ronaldinho and Barcalona) seems to be continuing.   No mention of Henrys record breaking 186, but I wouldn't expect them to - they are to busy jumping on another bandwagon - Messi in this case.  I hope he turns out to be the worst player in the history of football.

Another rant today, but I dont care.

    Bye.
    December 06

    You stupid boy....

...So, I have a book review to do tomorrow for Tombsie. Problem is I ain't read a book for it, so I travel yonder to the library to look for a suitable book.  Instead of a relativley thin and readable book that will be easy to review in a night I choose 'The KGB - Police and Politics in the Soviet Union'.... WHY ALI, WHY?? Some 400 page tome that I can't understand.  I think I will just read the introduction and conclusion, hopefully I will get away with it.

Today was the usual same old, same old - lecture > union > another lecture.  Wonderful.  I don't think anything exciting happened.  Oh, wait I foiled some international robbers from stealing money from the bank by using kung fu skills I didn't know I had.  Those international robbers, when will they learn???

Janae you SLAAAAAG...... that old womans house was cool though, she had a HUGE swimming pool.  That was cool.  Nothing else happened did it???  Oh, Bouncer is in love, and Karl is free.

    No Arsenal news floating around....

Oh and thanks to anyone who has put my site on theirs.....

    Bye!
    December 05

    ''Bests'' of 2005

    Best Album

Has got to be Hard Fi - Stars of CCTV.  Not a bad song on the album, and mindblowingly amazing live. There were so many great albums this year from Alkaline Trio, Royksopp, Sigur Ros, Foo Fighters, The Mitchell Brothers, Queens of the Stone Age, Kano and Gorillaz.

    Best Film

There were a number of good films out this year (and some still to come like King Kong and Narnia), such as War of the Worlds and Cinderella Man.  Harry Potter wasn't too bad either.  But my favourite has to be Downfall.  It is an account of Hitlers last days in his bunker in Berlin as the allies close around him.  And there is a happy ending - he dies.

    Best Book

Didn't read as many books as I would've liked to this year, but the ones I did read were very good.  Both volumes of Hitler by Ian Kershaw were interesting.  I also read Hillsborough - The Truth by Phil Scraton, and though slightly biased towards the victims (but then again, their version of the truth is much closer to fact than the polices') is very powerful and moving.  The best book I read was 1812 - Adam Zamoyski.  Basically, about Napoleons fatal march on Moscow, very interesting and readable.

    Other news today....

Done my first politics essay!!!! Took me about three hours, and I just chucked in a load of random quotes and rambled on in an attempt to answer the question Is there anything new in politics today?  I said yes, it is called apathy.  But I'm not too sure if that is a recent phenomenon, if anyone could tell me that would be much appreciated.  HAHA then I dragged Jonny away from the library (after paying a £6 fine on those two books) to play pool, he didn't do any work today.

Also, is this the new Arsenal kit? Answers on a postcard please...

Probably a fake, there were loads of supposed 'new kits' going around last season.

Right I'm off to watch Neighbours...

    Bye!

    Neighbours Update

Wasn't exactly what you would a classic episode today, though it was good too see the lads treating Serena like a servant, but you know she will get her revenge.  I want Max and Steph's baby to be born so I can watch it grow up in Ramsay Street.  Tragedy will strike though, Steph is cursed.

    December 04

    Union is out of bounds....

..tomorrow, GOT to do my politics essays.  So I can't let Jonny distract me, and make me play pool.  If I fail this year it is all Jonnys fault.

Right, saw the higlights....Arsenal were awful yesterday, it hurts to say this, but Bolton wanted it more.  They had the desire, passion and commitment, we didn't.  No physical presence, no Vieira type figure to take the game by the scruff of the neck.  Thats why I would like Cahill in January, he isnt particularly skillfull but he gets around the pitch, he is tough tackling and he works really hard.  CAHILL FOR ARSENAL.

Just done this test....whatever it all means..

    December 03

    One is not amused

I haven't seen the match, but by all accounts Arsenal were awful today, and Bolton fully deserved the win.  Hopefully we can bounce back....you can read a match report here

Work was disgustingly poor today, first of all Christmas overtime was cut from 100 hours to 70 hours, so no one is happy about that.  Then at 5pm I was told to do seven cages of shortlife (ready meals, pizzas, sausages, fish etc)  and the longlife (cheese, butter) delivery by 9pm.  That would have been alright, as Matt and Darren were supposed to have helped me, but then Matt had to go on cakes and reductions.  Then I kept being called on to checkouts so the shortlife didnt even get finished, and Sheila (scum manager) came round to have a go, so I said how are we expected to do our jobs properly, when we have to keep covering for the ineptly managed checkouts?  ARRRGH!!  Hmmm, talking about checkouts someone was fined £80 for selling ale to a 14 year old girl, she was sent in by the police as a test.  The store gets fined £1000. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

Then I came home, and discovered dad watching Strictly Come Dancing.  I think he is gay...oh dear.

Sorry for the rant people, there are much much much much worse things that can happen....

    Bye

(P.S.  Neighbours should be on at the weekend).
    December 02

Big Sami Reads Horse and Hounds...

...Yes that is the breaking news tonight boys and girls, Sami Hyypia reads Horse and Hounds.  I saw the big Finn buying it tonight in Tesco, is he a secret fox hunter?

Apart from that nothing happened today. Had a driving lesson, slept, watched Neighbours.  Ahhh, Neighbours....who was that random gay nurse?  Ah well he is going to prison now, hopefully Izzy will aswell the SLAAAAAAAAAAAG.

Nothing else going on really, could be a short blog tonight.  It could be. Or I could ramble on pointlessly for a while..... Or are all blogs pointless? Why do people want to read about each others lives.  Most people have boring, dull lives and then they die. Why write about it? Just to massage our huge egos? Probably.

Not too much Arsenal news around at the moment.  Apart from the fact that we seem to be nicking Celta Vigo players or something like that.....
Oh, and hopefully a nice round three points at the woolybacks tomorrow.

    Keep smiling everyone.

    December 01

    Payday

Woohoo, got paid today.  Last payday before Christmas!!!! Apart from that work was boring, there weren't even any footballers in tonight.  Haven't seen Big Sami for a while buying his Tesco Value fish....£30k a week and he buys Tesco Value food.  Maybe the fish was for his cat. If he has one.

Talking about cats I saw a dead one on the way to the train station today.  One less of those overgrown rats in the world - I'm happy.

Criminology lecture was funny today, Tombsie was taking it.  Asked some lad if he would give him a 'handjob' for 17 quid. It had something to do with comparing Marxism and Capitalism.  I'm a Marxist now, well a Marxist Criminologist anyway.

Sagged my tutorials afterwards though, to beat Andy Ken at pool - best out of 5 and Ali beats him 3-2.  As they would say in Germany - WUNDERBAR!!!!!!

Neighbours was interesting today, though Izzy is really starting to annoy me.  But she did come out with a quality line when Paul asked her for a hand to get up - she replied 'You need a leg!'  That was funny.

Any Arsenal fans reading this? http://www.aisa.org/pdfs/survey2005.pdf  Do this, its a survey on ticket prices etc at Highbury also loads of other stuff.  No other Arsenal news as such, so lets admire Robin Van Persie.
    video Bye!
    November 30

    The Kids Are Alright

Oh, I've been saying it for a long time - Lupoli will be boss.  Great skill for the goal last night. Really good too see one of the more senior players, Reyes, hitting the back of the net. And RVP goes from strength to strength.

So, onto the events of today.  No lectures with Tombsie, instead we had to do group presentations, so I spent the morning writing up the conclusion on Hillsborough - The Truth.  It went well I think, Craig and Andy done some good work, we have passed no worries.  OH BOLLOCKS STILL NOT HANDED IN THOSE BOOKS....sorry to the person who has requested one of them.

Onto the pub in the afternoon with Willo, beat him at pool on a number of occasions, but he won on the fruities.  He even bought two pints and a sausage dinner for me...cheers Willo!!  CU was crap though.  Neighbours was quality....IZZY YOU SLAAAAAAAAAG.  She's gonna OD on those sleeping pills.  Hmm I wonder when Connor and Serena are gonna sleep with each other. Surely its only a matter of time before the Irish fool gets her pregnant.

    +++++BREAKING NEWS++++BREAKING NEWS++++++BREAKING NEWS+++++BREAKING NEWS+++++BREAKING NEWS++++BREAKING NEWS++

Gary Glitter has applied for the England managers job, but got turned down due to his poor interview....

FA Chairman - What would you bring to the job Gary?

Gary - Well, its not what I would bring as such, but I would try and put Seaman in the under 12s......

    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

I hope he gets shot the scumbag....

    Bye!

    Oh this is funny

    video
    November 29

    Same old same old

Guess what I done today? Yes thats right Ali went to lectures and played pool.

If I was being followed by international spies then it would be really easy to keep track of me. I do the exact same things all the time. Which is pretty boring really.  Hmm it would be cool to be followed by international spies. But why would they follow me? Maybe they think I am an Islamic terrorist in disguise.  If I was an Islamic terrorist I could use my power as a Tesco shelf stacker to hold the country to ransom by nicking all the food. Hang on, then everyone would just go to Sainsburys. Bollocks, seemed like a good idea at the start.

Watched Neighbours in the union today, but the sound was turned down. I had to guess what happened...Janelle confronted Karl thinking he was touching up Janae. Or the other way round I always get mixed up between Janelle and Janae. What crap names anyway. Janelle, sounds like some sort of crap shampoo make. Talking about shampoo, I got two free Sunsilk bags with samples in them at the train station. Gave them to my sisters. Don't tell them, but it's their Christmas presents this year. MUHAHAHA.

Bollocks, just found out I have to use about 8 references for my criminal statistics essay....

    RECONSTRUCTION

    (in seminar room)

Me: I have read about three books about criminal statistics, is that enough?

Joe Sim: No you need to have about 8 references.

Me: (out loud) Oh, thanks. (in head) BOLLLLOCKS!!!!!!!

I have only actually read about two books anyway. Actually, its one but I have two books overdue by two weeks, I must owe about a tenner.

Anyway enough, I'm off to play football

    Keep smiling.
